One more thing

You must learn one thing.
The world was made to be free in

Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn

anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive

is too small for you.

Time

“This is what we’ve been looking for since the day we met. Time. That’s what the Good Place really is — it’s not even a place, really. It’s just having enough time with the people you love.”

– Chidi Anagonye, The Good Place 4×12

Self-discipline for the rest of us

I want to say that I used to have it by the bucket loads. But now, I wouldn’t say that it’s depleted. But something — perhaps a Sisyphean perspective or knowing — makes me terribly unwilling to tap into it.

Why Self-Discipline Is Overrated: The (Troubling) Theory and Practice of Control from Within

Also, something that Master said in relation to handstands rang true or at least challenges what I thought of self-control. He said that if you needed to stay straight and tight in a handstand, you’re not really in control of it. You should be able to bring yourself back from nearly falling and change shapes in a handstand before you’re in control.

Sunday’s thought was: “No focus, no problem.” Wonder what anyone else has to say about that.

Don’t

Don’t tell me
about your unrequited love
the one you’ve been pining for
I’ve heard that shit before.

Spare me your tales of childhood rape
father’s rage
mother’s fear
as if you were
the only one who suffers
I don’t care
about
your existential tragedies

Come to me naked or avoid me altogether:
Leave your facades for those who think in words.
Show me the silence
behind
your mouth and body language

We are in a room
too small for movement
Dance me with your stillness
or shut up
